ObSAT - Observatory of Territorialized Food Systems

Given the lack or inadequacy of data on production, processing, logistics and distribution in short and local circuits, the Réseau Mixte Technologique Alimentation Locale (Joint Local Food Technological Network), co-managed by INRAE and Civam Bretagne, has created the first Observatory of Territorialized Food Systems.

ObSAT's objectives

This digital tool for action and decision-making support offers reliable and up-to-date data to farmers and all stakeholders in agri-chains and agricultural territories wishing to develop short circuits.

ObSAT is part of an open science approach and relies on partnerships with data managers in order to aggregate multiple existing data sources or to create new data in a participatory manner.

The aim is to produce a database that characterizes the actors of territorialized food systems (location, economic weightage, etc.) and the links they have with each other. The data is historicized in order to identify dynamics (appearance or disappearance of actors, growth, etc.).

The user interface allows queries at different territorial scales (France as a whole, region, department, EPCI) and produces summaries in the form of tables, graphs and maps.
