It was a matter of introducing quality approaches to products and supply chains and of building up the capacities of the actors in the quality and origin domains in order to:

- Promote trade in quality agricultural and agri-food products within the countries of the zone and internationally;

- Encourage the recognition of quality products and territories and thus add value to them;

- Promote exports in conformance with European and international standards, with reference to the strategies and capacities of local actors and expectations of downstream operators and consumers.
