Objectifs

Innovations contribute to the sustainable development of farming households and enterprises, the agricultural sector in which they operate, as well as the rural area where the activities take place.

The origin of good initiatives can vary and innovative farmers, creative advisors, researchers, administrators and civilians can bring the first spark into a process. What really matters is that farmers and relevant stakeholders embrace the idea; the source is less important. Such initiatives are the starting point of innovation processes, to be facilitated by intermediate actors. AgriSPIN will concentrate on regional systems, rather than on national institutions.

As relevant solutions emerge from communication and interaction between stakeholders, the core activities of the project are structured Cross Visits designed for dense dialogue and mutual learning. Mixed teams, composed of AKIS professionals, will make visits to each partner organisation; study preselected existing innovation systems and explores promising experiences and lessons learnt. As the Cross Visits will be embedded in thorough science-practice reflections and sound documentation, AgriSPIN will hereby substantially add to the cross-national expertise on innovation intermediaries and support services.
