Innovation and development in agricultural and food systems

Our comprehensive book on innovation was published, first in French and then in English, and is available in Open Access. It takes a fresh look at innovation in the face of the challenges of this century by exploring the ethical dimension of change and focusing on the meaning accorded to the concept of innovation by the actors concerned, especially farmers.

Innovation is thus apprehended in its complexity in which cognitive, technical, organizational and institutional dimensions are intertwined. The quest for understanding methods and mechanisms to support innovating actors provides useful and original lines of action for professionals and for policymakers.

This book is the result of a collective effort by the Innovation joint research unit which wished to capitalize all of its work and reflections of researchers and teacher-researchers on innovation. It marks a milestone in the life of the unit and shows how research on agricultural and food systems can provide an original contribution to scientific and societal debates on innovation.

The book is available in Open Access in PDF format on Quae’s site and from the ProdInra open archives.
